Full-Time Graduate Clinical Track Position

Position available: FT Graduate Clinical Track position at the rank of Clinical Assistant Professor or Clinical Instructor. The Graduate Clinical Track position is a 9-month position teaching in the graduate program with a focus on family or adult gerontology acute care.

Requirements: Clinical Track: A doctoral degree (or in process) is required, preferably in nursing, but candidates must hold a master’s degree in nursing with an advanced practice nurse specialty. Additional requirements include approval to practice as a certified nurse practitioner in Alabama as well as clinical experience as a family nurse practitioner or an adult gerontology acute care nurse practitioner. Faculty are expected to engage in active teaching and learning strategies, i.e., flipped classroom, unfolding case studies, simulation, and telepresence robotics.

Responsibilities: Contributing to the mission, vision, and core values of the College of Nursing by teaching both online and on-campus in accordance to best practices, advising students to guide and retain them at UAH, maintaining an active program of scholarship/research to contribute to nursing science and to the translation of research evidence into practice, maintaining own nursing practice to stay current and building community partnerships, participating on college and university committees, and participating in DNP projects.

The College of Nursing: The College of Nursing offers a traditional BSN, RN-BSN, MSN and DNP programs, which are accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE). The College’s total fall 2016 enrollment is 1,146 students with 730 undergraduate students and 416 graduate students, which includes master’s and post-master’s students (Acute Care NP, FNP, and Nursing Administration Tracks), and DNP students. Extensive distance education programs are offered. The College of Nursing currently cooperates with more than 800 sites for clinical education. All programs provide opportunities to make a difference in healthcare delivery, teaching and research.

The University of Alabama in Huntsville: The University, classified as a High Research Active Institution, offers academic and research programs in the Colleges of Nursing, Business, Engineering, Science, Education, and Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences, Professional and Continuing Studies, as well as the Honors College. It is co-located with Cummings Research Park, home to more than 50 Fortune 500 companies, the Hudson Alpha Institute for Biotechnology, and several federal research facilities, including NASA Marshall Space Flight Center and Redstone Arsenal. Additional requirements include approval to practice as a certified nurse practitioner in Alabama, as well as clinical experience as an adult gerontology family nurse practitioner.
