National Student Clearinghouse
Who We Are
Founded in 1993 by the higher education community, the National Student Clearinghouse® relieves the administrative burdens and costs related to student data reporting and exchange.
We are a nonprofit and nongovernmental organization and the leading provider of educational reporting, data exchange, verification, and research services. The services we offer have been provided at the request of our participating institutions to enable them to better serve their students. Our work — performed in a trusted, secure and private environment — provides numerous time- and cost-saving benefits to students, schools, administrators, and requestors.
- More than 3,600 colleges and universities participate in the Clearinghouse, reporting enrollment and degree information to us regularly throughout the year
- Participants enroll 98% of all students in public and private U.S. institutions
- Our free and low-cost services save higher education institutions over $750 million annually
Through our research arm, the National Student Clearinghouse® Research Center™, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, we provide educators and policymakers with accurate longitudinal data on student outcomes to enable informed decision making.
Clearinghouse services are designed to facilitate an institution’s compliance with the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act, The Higher Education Act, and other applicable laws.
What We Do
The Clearinghouse serves as a trusted agent to our participating institutions, which have approached us through the years to expand our services to help them meet their growing compliance, administrative, student access, accountability, and analytical needs. Our services are designed to facilitate compliance with FERPA, The Higher Education Act, and other applicable laws.
Clearinghouse services comprise four service areas:
The Clearinghouse offers unmatched experience in electronic student record exchanges — over one billion transactions a year — and is the nation’s largest provider of postsecondary transcript services.
Our free services, reports, and analytics help institutions meet the growing compliance and assessment efforts associated with state and federal financial aid programs.
We offer services and reports that draw on the Clearinghouse’s unmatched information resources on student-level educational outcomes nationwide. Solutions are available for institutions, high schools, outreach programs, and educational organizations. All our free research reports are available at http://nscresearchcenter.org.
Our powerful online services let institutions outsource all academic verifications to the Clearinghouse at no cost, as well as easily manage and track verification requests for students and alumni. The Clearinghouse is also the nation’s trusted source for educational verifications by businesses and other organizations.
Refunds for a transcript order are reviewed on a case-by-case basis. To request a refund for a transcript order, email email@example.com. Please include the Transcript Order number of your transcript ordering request (located on your credit card receipt email). A representative will review your request and contact you.
