MS in Nutrition Sciences, Clinical Track – Prior Learning Option:

The MS in Nutrition Sciences, Clinical Track – Prior Learning Option accepts your nutrition/dietetic supervised practice hours toward completion of this degree. Students eligible for this program have completed an undergraduate degree in nutrition/dietetics and 1200 hours of supervised practice from an Accreditation Council for Education in Nutrition and Dietetics (ACEND) of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics program.

If you are a preceptor for UAB’s Dietetic Internship program, you may qualify to have the last 9 credit hours of this degree paid for by UAB Department of Nutrition Sciences (upon approval by the MS in Nutrition Sciences Program Director).

Admissions

Your application to the MS in Nutrition Sciences, Clinical Track – Prior Learning Option is completed through the UAB Graduate School. Please click “Admissions” for application deadlines, how to apply and admission requirements. You must have completed an undergraduate degree in nutrition/dietetics and 1200 hours of supervised practice from a program accredited by the Accreditation Council for Education in Nutrition and Dietetics (ACEND) of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics. A verification certificate of the supervised practice program is required.

Curriculum

All students in the MS in Nutrition Sciences, Clinical Track – Prior Learning Option complete online coursework through a planned program of study. This is a non-thesis program. You can complete the coursework full- or part-time. If enrolled full-time the program can be completed in 3 semesters. Your professors will use a variety of teaching styles to enhance your understanding of complex theories and topics by using diverse technologies and teaching methods, which include virtual discussions, recorded lectures, discussion boards and team projects.
